What the fuck is going on

A non-exhaustive list of what the fuck is going on.
What the fuck is going on is that Trump bombed Iran.
What the fuck is going on is that this hero successfully delivered food to someone trapped on a stuck train.
What the fuck is going on is that Trump bombed Iran.
What the fuck is going on is that there is something beeping near my house. Like every few seconds something beeps outside and we don't know what it is but we have to get air in the house so we have to have windows open for a nice cross breeze and we keep hearing something beep every few seconds. It has been beeping for three days.
What the fuck is going on is that the ghoul, Keir Starmer, has expressed support for Trump's unprovoked and illegal bombing of Iran.
What the fuck is going on is that the BBC has dropped its documentary about doctors working in Gaza because it thinks airing it would be too political and that somehow withholding it isn't political at all.
What the fuck is going on is that I interviewed for a part time, minimum wage job in one of the more depressing shops I've ever been into and I don't recommend it. It's a strange thing to be interviewing for jobs like that while also preparing a [REDACTED] for [REDACTED] but this is where we are. A couple of years ago it felt like I was really getting somewhere, I had an enormous amount of work on, I was very burnt out but I thought that maybe I was moving forward. Then 2024 was almost entirely a walk backwards, professionally speaking, and it's a bit of a trip to really be made to see just how far backwards you can go.
What the fuck is going on is that a rat stole a diamond necklace and I hope he enjoys it.
What the fuck is going on is that alliances have never been built on moral clarity; they've always been about tradition and identity. The UK is not about to abandon the US or Israel, despite their unambiguous and indefensible crimes because they are traditional allies, and you don't just turn on traditional allies. No one is really here to defend smaller nations from unprovoked attacks.
What the fuck is going on is that I saw someone on bluesky talking about how weird it feels to be in a better place personally than you've ever been, when the world is in the state that it is. I can understand that, but it's so much worse to be in the world in this state when your own life is also going terribly. When you're scrambling to survive you can't contribute as much as you feel you should to the disasters of the world, and the knowledge of how little good you are to anyone else compounds the rest of it. It strikes me that this is the bonus consequence of building a world where there isn't adequate help for people who fall on hard times – it also makes it harder for us to help each other. And we are built to help each other, being unable to curdles the soul a bit.
What the fuck is going on is that all the power in the world has been distributed amongst a bunch of feeble losers and it's becoming increasingly clear that we can't incrementally reform it away from them.
What the fuck is going on is that life gets hard sometimes, everyone will tell you that, but what they won't tell you is that the periods of life that are hard don't happen in a montage. You have to actually live them. You have to live them for years, for tedious and exhausted decades, and all you have to keep you going is the assumption that sometimes life also gets easy.
What the fuck will continue to go on until we find a way to stop it, and when we do it's likely we'll forget we have to prevent the fuck from beginning to go on again.
